(USATSI) More MLB: Scoreboard | Standings | Probable Pitchers | Sortable Stats | Odds Joe Mauer has started increasing his workouts after suffering a concussion two weeks ago, Twins GM Terry Ryan confirmed to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com . The team's franchise player ramped up exercises on Friday and is expected to hit off a tee on Saturday. Mauer, 30, landed on the 7-day concussion DL on August 20 after taking a few too many foul balls to the face mask. He stayed in the game but felt some dizziness during batting practice the following day. In 113 games before the injury, Mauer hit a stellar .324/.404/.476 (142 OPS+) with 11 home runs. The Twins know firsthand how devastating concussions can be.
